She was a musician, creator, performer and also broke boundaries in the music world. She was a an American-Mexican traditional star who bound together both genres with a unique approach. She also brought excellent Tejano music to a mass public. She was a rising star but her sudden death broke it. And as is common with a talented, charismatic and young musician is lost too quickly people mourn the possibilities she was yet to attain. The result is that fans have been inspired over through the years to dig and work harder to ensure that her achievements will not be forgotten. The death of Selena triggered emotions in the Latino culture that can be similar in a way to Elvis Presley, and John Lennon. Selena was a wildly well-known singer for Latinos across North America. But her music was a hit with both the young and old. Selena might have been described by many as a Latina Madonna, but she is still a great example to follow. Selena's family values off stage and involvement in AIDS awareness efforts provide a great example.
