Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March in 1991. She is an American musician and singer. She was the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In the month of October Ari Lennox dropped her Pho EP. The EP was where she was recognized. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May of 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded her music on the internet in 2012. Her debut album Ariography and debut mixtape in 2013 with Five Finger Discount. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued to post her songs online, including her independent single Bound. In 2015, she appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time was interested in having her create Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. On December 8, she signed with Dreamville Records. The album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the track Backseat with Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, the artist released her debut album entitled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and also performed as the opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she appeared on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. and Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The album's first single, called Whipped Cream of the album was released on the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a a music video. Then, on the 9th of November, she released another two singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Two singles more were released on the 11th of November with the titles Pedigree and One. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It then came out as a standalone single in February 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. The track was launched with a music video posted on YouTube February 20, 2019 has been watched over 3 million times within the first seven days. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK in their From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
